T.R.A.G.(Tactical Rescue Assault Group) NTSC (PSX) |

| GameSpot Review
Originally released in Japan last fall as Hard Edge, T.R.A.G. (Tactical Rescue Assault Group) puts you in the line of fire as either Alex or Michelle, the game`s two creatively named protagonists. Having been sent to the Togusa Building to investigate some suspicious shenanigans, the entire T.R.A.G. team has been booby-trapped and destroyed by mysterious forces, with Alex and Michelle the only survivors. It is now up to them to get to the bottom of things.
After a semi-lavish CG intro (not nearly as good as Resident Evil 2`s, but good enough), you are inserted into the game in the role of Alex, whom you will play as until a later point where you can opt to switch between the two characters. Later in the game, you will be able to control other characters, much like you can in RE2. Other similarities to RE or RE2 are the prerendered backgrounds and polygonal characters. The thing that T.R.A.G. does not share with its evil brethren is the ease of control. If you thought Resident Evil and its offspring were hard to control, then T.R.A.G. makes the RE series feel like Mario 64 by comparison. Analog control is all but useless in this game, since you must still push forward to walk forward, and push right to rotate right, etc. R1 causes you to withdraw your weapon, and square attacks. X makes your character run, and run you will, since the characters walk with mind-numbing slowness. Another little control gripe is the uni-speed dialogue settings that you usually try to fast-forward by mashing the buttons, only to trigger the same text again and again. It`s annoying to see the words "it`s a bookshelf" over and over again.
Control gaffes aside, the graphics are competent, although not of the high resolutions that RE2 sports, and the characters and enemies are not as detailed or realistic as those found in RE2. If it seems a little unfair to compare T.R.A.G. with Capcom`s meisterwerk, it`s only because T.R.A.G. attempts to emulate the RE formula so hard with so little success. If there`s any one thing that drags this game down (and amazingly enough it`s not the control) it`s the enemy AI. You can stand there and cause a fuss (read: fire your gun) right around the corner from a horribly generic bad guy, and he`ll just stand there until you approach him. Shoot, punch, kick these guys down, and they`ll just get up and walk right back into your flurry of attacks until he`s deceased. The only time these guys pose a problem is when there is more than one of them. They`ll gang up on you, and you won`t be able to focus on more than one of them. These odd situations aside, the enemies are absolute morons. They seem to be filler baddies and are more of an annoyance than anything else.

Ferrari F355 Challenge (PAL) |

| Amazon.co.uk Review
A game that’s been a long time coming to the PS2, Ferrari F355 is an immense challenge for the dedicated driving game fan--it's undeniably showing its age a little, yet not to the detriment of quality entertainment.
Despite the presence of an arcade mode and various driving aids to help break the player into the game, this isn’t the kind of racing game that beginners will easily find enjoyable. Much practice and a patient, tactical approach wins you races here--boy racers are strictly not welcome. But there’s plenty for those more familiar with the genre to get their teeth into--testing courses, good handling, better than expected computer AI cars to go up against, and some really engrossing races for starters. And heck, you get to drive a Ferrari, even if it's only a virtual one. Also, one of the new additions for the PS2 version, the great driver challenge mode, is a thoughtful feature as it continually evaluates your driving skill as well as assessing you via a more traditional stopwatch.
Still, no matter how it’s dressed up, this is still a belated port of an admittedly excellent Dreamcast title. Despite commendable cosmetic enhancements and some nice extra options, it’s the same old game at the core of it all, only this time it sits with the likes of Gran Turismo 3. Fortunately, though, Ferrari F355 has good old-fashioned quality gameplay at its core, and it’s not afraid to really test the armchair racer. --Simon Brew

NHL 2004 *USA* |

| Platform: PlayStation2
Rip Notes ..:
Movies Relinked, Commentary and some dummies removed, enjoy!
A gamer from Wisconsin
I switched over last year, going to NHL 2K3 instead of NHL 2003, and wasn't really satisfied with the whole ESPN experience, so I came back this year to NHL 2004. There seemed to be a lot of features that appeal to me, such as the Dynasty mode and controlling an NHL team down to the last detail. The last detail, however, is controlling how much you can charge for tickets. This is also the ONLY real detail (aside from trading, negotiating contracts, which are standard among most games now). The music is great, it's great to listen to some real music and flip through songs while navigating the menus. The flipside to that, is there's only a handful of songs (maybe 10?). The game itself looks cool, but plays frustrating. Body checking? Nonexistant. You can push the opposing player, but you never seem to knock them off the puck, only taking yourself out of the play and giving them an open scoring chance. If you have the puck, you're always knocked off it, and in the slim chance you're not, the opposition will hook you (which you can also never do to them) and you lose the puck right away. Goaltending flat out sucks, get ready for scores that are 9-7, 12-8, something that almost never happens in a real NHL game. 40 games in the season, Mario Lemieux already has over 100 points, and several other players are in the 90 point mark. Very unrealistic. Players get injured, its part of the game, but there's no menu to tell you what the player is out with, or how long he will be out. Hope you like guessing. There is a long menu of stats though, divided into teams, conferences, then alltogether, and plenty of catagories that cover virtually anything you need to know. Several European teams are offered, which is another pretty cool feature. Overall though, its not enough to save this game. Hopefully, they can clear a lot up for next year. ...
