PSX Tekken 3 (NTSC) (FULL-CD) |

| A near arcade-perfect conversion of one of the best fighting games of all time, Tekken 3 is an essential PlayStation title that belongs in every gamer`s library--especially now at its bargain-basement Greatest Hits price. While the one-on-one combat here is essentially two-dimensional, highly detailed 3-D character graphics and a roaming camera viewpoint give this game a distinctive 3-D look. Gameplay is fast and furious, with simple controls that are easy to learn. This game also allows for special moves and combos to be executed with relative ease. Various modes of play are available, including "Tekken Force," a one-player side-scrolling brawler.
Chock full of goodies--most of which remain hidden until certain requirements are met--Tekken 3 rewards players` persistent endeavors with secret characters, alternate costumes, and yet another mode of play, Tekken ball, a bizarre variation on volleyball. Also, beating the game`s arcade mode allows players to view a beautifully animated epilogue that`s specific to whichever fighter they used. And once you`ve seen one, you just have to see them all.

PSX Vandal Hearts 2 (PAL) (FULL-CD) |

| Before this game, I did not believe that another game could rival Final Fantasy Tactics in terms of storyline, gameplay, and graphics. But then I played Vandal Hearts II
This game begins with a simple plot: your main character Joseph lives in a village as a peasant forced to conform to the inequities of a Caste system in which Nobles control every aspect of peasant and middle class society life. He eventually leaves his village in the middle of a very tragic event. The story instantly becomes much more than that, but I won`t go into detail.
This game features a dual-turn battle system, which, to my knowledge, is previously unprecedented in strategy role-playing games . This makes it so that each enemy moves at the same time as each of your characters do. This makes the game much more fun and challenging, and it causes you to have to think strategically when planning each of your moves; you have to be able to anticipate how the character will attack you and plan your movements and attacks accordingly. This gets harder as the game progresses because the enemies will use a greater variety of weapons and skills. You might have to spend some battles outside of the main quest getting used to this new system, but it is an awesome experience. (I think they used more blood than really necessary, though. Sure, when they get slashed to death and die they have to bleed, but not THAT much!)
Also, the game gets rid of the job system featured in Final Fantasy Tactics. Instead, your weapons and armor give you all of your stats, abilities and techniques. You can equip up to two weapons on a character (Your shield counts as one of those weapons), with the exception of certain ones. Different weapons give you different attacks and special techniques.Armor determines your movement in battle. Heavy armor gives you a great deal of HP. Light vests give you less HP, but you can move farther and through grass. Wing armor gives you little HP, but you have amazing mobility and can move to great heights and over any surface.
The graphics are not the greatest. The pictures of the characters during dialogue are kind of strange-looking, and others are downright ugly. The character sprites don`t look nearly as good as in Final Fantasy Tactics, but hey, graphics don`t make the game, right?
Overall, this is one of the greatest games I own for PlayStation -- the others being Star Ocean 2 and possibly Final Fantasy Tactics. Anyone who is a fan of strategy RPGs or just RPGs in general should have this.
When I first saw this game, I purchased it on the spot for the sole fact alone that I loved the first game. When I got home to play it a day later I was instantly hooked. The game is full of alot of political intrigue, and the story is very deep and moving.
The story is very deep and moving, as Joshua and Adele`s stories take shape, and they are pushed together and pulled apart over and over again. The battle system is alot more flexible than Vandal Hearts and alot more strategy is needed to beat all the monsters. Now, when you move, a monster moves at the same time, meaning you sometimes will have to guess where that monster will move and anticipate it`s move.
The menu system in towns and on the world map has still been kept in use, but it cuts all the [garbage] out of a game, and leaves you heading in the direction you are supposed to. There is no confusion on where to go here, like in other games.
Overall this game is great, and if you love alot of reading, and a great story then I suggest you find a copy of this great game as soon as you can!

PSX Chrono Cross (RPG) (PAL) (2 FULL-CDS) |

| While it`s officially a sequel to the immensely popular Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross is completely its own role-playing game with over 40 characters, a branching story line, and multiple endings. Like its predecessor, the game is about crossing through time and setting things right. This story focuses on Serge`s quest for the Frozen Flame, which will give the beholder the power to bend space and time. Serge wants the power to save himself from dying in a parallel universe but, as you can guess, nefarious forces are also vying for the Frozen Flame to suit their own purposes.
Chrono Cross features the stylish character designs and wondrous cut scenes that gamers have come to expect from SquareSoft, but the game also has a number of gameplay innovations. Though the battle engine is essentially turn-based, characters don`t have to wait their turn to cast a spell or make an attack; battles are moderated by stamina. Also, the repetitive battles with lesser monsters that make so many RPGs sag can be easily avoided because all monsters can be seen on the screen.

PSX Diablo (PAL) (FULL-CD) |

| "Monty Haul." "Hack and Slash." If these names mean anything to you, you`ll like Diablo. The story is simple and doesn`t get in the way of the action: the demon Diablo has set up shop beneath the cathedral on the edge of town, and it`s your job to destroy him.
Diablo was and is one of the great PC role-playing games, and this PlayStation port holds true to the original. You create your character--Warrior, Sorcerer, or Rogue--and take him or her up in experience levels as you hack your way down, level by level, to the bottom of the dungeon beneath the cathedral, where Diablo awaits. Along the way you gain a lot of cool magical artifacts, weapons, and equipment. These mystical tools define your character as much as or more than the obligatory character stats such as strength, dexterity, and stamina.
The game`s only flaws are due to its translation to the PlayStation. The controls can be difficult, especially with ranged weapons, and the two-player mode throws both characters on the same screen, often making it problematic to negotiate the various rooms of any given level.
Complaints aside, Diablo is a solid hack and slash adventure game. You`d be either a fool or a coward to pass it up.

PSX Devil Dice (PAL) (FULL-CD) |

| This is one of the most addictive action/puzzle games ever (on par with Tetris for me.) You`re a little devil that hurts other little devils by walking on dice to bring them together. You need 6 sixes together, 5 fives together. etc. When you put the dice together they slowly sink into the ground, and when they finally disappear it hurts all the other devils on the screen. But, other devils can steal your sinking dice by rolling their own die next to it that matches. Last devil standing wins.
There`s also a separate puzzle game, where the object is to have the devil roll all the dice on the screen into the proper patterns so they dissapear. And some of these are HARD! When you win a set of ten, you get new floor tiles for the action version of the game.
